ARC Salon 2008-2009 Best in Show Sells at Christie’s For More Than 5 X the Estimate

Julien by Hiroshi Furuyoshi (Japanese, b.1959) has sold at Christie’s South Kensington in London for £39,650($58,404), (against a ridiculously low estimate of $7,000 to $10,000). This painting won Best in Show in the International 2008-2009 ARC Salon™ Competition.

To quote Christie’s :

" …2009(2008-2009) ARC Salon when he won the prestigious Best in Show award for Julien. Arguably the pinnacle of his career to date, Julien captivates the viewer, drawing them back time and again."

This outstanding show of contemporary realists opened at the Thomas Kearns McCarthey Gallery, in Park City, Utah, travelled to the Springville Museum of Art, Springville Utah and will now open in New York City with a number of related workshops by the artists and a panel discussion at the Salmagundi Club in Manhattan.
ARC Chairman, Fred Ross will be the keynote speaker for the Panel Discussion which will take place at 7pm on July 29th at the Salmagundi Club, 47 5th Avenue.
