Awards

Best in Show: $10,000 cash award plus gallery space in the Museum section of ARC's website. Gallery space will include the artist's biographical information accompanied by 1 to 5 web pages of the artist's finest works.

The William Bouguereau Award - "Emotion, Theme, and the Figure": $3,000.

5 First Place Awards:$2,500 awarded in each category.
5 Second Place Awards:$1,000 awarded in each category.
5 Third Place Awards:$500 awarded in each category.

Chairman's Choice Award: 2 Awarded at $500 each.

ARC Staff Award: 4 Awarded at $100 each.

People's Choice Award: $100 cash award. Winner will be selected by the public from the top 100 finalists through an online voting system at www.artrenewal.org.

Minimum of $10,000 in Purchase Awards*

Over $159,000 in purchases was awarded in the Art Renewal Center's International 2006 ARC Salon™ 3rd Annual Competition.

* Works do not have to be for sale to be eligible for the competition. Purchase awards will be chosen from the finalists by our four judges and awarded at the sole discretion of the ARC's Chairman, Fred Ross.

30 Honorable mentions: Award winners will receive an Award Certificate and have their winning artwork accompanied by their name displayed on the ARC website.

Top 100 Finalists will have their entry accompanied by their name displayed on the ARC website and will also be featured in the 2007 ARC Salon Catalog.

Additional Awards to be announced
Additional cash awards and art material awards to be announced.

Categories

Artists may enter and win in one or all 5 categories; there is no limit to the number of slides you may enter.

Figurative: This category includes portraits, formal or informal, groups or individuals. All figurative work, nudes and studies of the human form will also be included.

Landscape: All landscape subjects are acceptable, from cityscapes to seascapes, the real to the imaginary.

Still life: From the traditional to the inventive, works may range from a single object to a room's full interior.

Sculpture: The subject matter is open in this category and includes sculptures created in all mediums.

Drawing: The subject matter is open in this category and may include pencil and graphite drawings, etchings and other forms of printing, charcoal and other mixed mediums.

Jury of Awards

Daniel F. Gerhartz: Gerhartz has been featured in publications such as Southwest Art, Focus Santa Fe, Art Talk and Art of the West along with the hardbound book, Creative Oil Painting, Techniques from 15 Master Painters by Stephen Doherty. His teaching credentials include the Scottsdale Artists' School and The Fechin Institute. Gerhartz' work is included in the permanent collection of the West Bend Art Museum in Wisconsin and the Huntsville Museum of Art in Alabama. Daniel is an ARC Living Master™ and the recipient of ŇBest in ShowÓ in the first ARC Salon™.

Gregory S. Hedberg: Director of the Department of European Art at Hirschl & Adler Galleries in Manhattan. Gregory has curated some of the finest and most successful exhibitions with the entire art world taking notice of H&A's policy of "Exhibitions of Realist Artists Only". Greg received his BA in Art History from Princeton University and his PH.D from New York University. He is the former, Chief Curator of the Wadsworth Atheneum, and was the first professional Director of the New York Academy of Art.

Paul W. McCormack: Executive Director of Programs for the Art Renewal Center, ARC Living Master™, and Award winning portrait artist represented by Portraits Inc. in NYC. Paul has exhibited widely with various establishments; these include the National Arts Club (NYC), the Salmagundi Club (NYC), the American Watercolor Society, Allied Artists of America, the Montclair Arts Museum (NJ), the Noyes Museum (NJ) and the Butler Institute of American Art (OH). His paintings and articles on portraiture have been published in many of Americas leading art magazines and books.

Fred Ross: Current Chairman of the Art Renewal Center and well-known collector of 19th century European and Victorian paintings. Mr. Ross has achieved the reputation of being one of the only two acknowledged world experts on William Bouguereau and is the current President of the Bouguereau Committee. Fred received his MA in Art Education from Columbia University. Widely published, his advice and scholarship is currently sought after by museums, galleries, collectors, art historians and all the major auction houses.

The Art Renewal Center

The Art Renewal Center was founded in 1999 for the advancement of traditional representational art. As a registered 501(c) 3 non-profit educational organization and one of the internet's leading art resources, the ARC website contains over 5,200 artists with over 62,000 high-resolution images. Other features include the ARC's annual scholarship competition, dozens of articles, essays and entire books dedicated to the realist movement that can be read online. The website is currently receiving more visitors than the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, and is now tracking 450,000,000 hits per year from over 5,000,000 regular visitors. Procedure for Entry

Works Eligible
Open to all artists, members and non-members. All entries must be original artwork, conceived and created by the entrant. Representational work only, abstract works will be disqualified. Acceptable mediums include oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, graphics (graphics refers to all drawing media) and sculpture. Photography and computer generated art will not be accepted.

Slide Entry
All entries must be 35mm slides of original artwork. Glass slides and large format transparencies will not be accepted. You may enter work in any or all categories; there is no limit to the number of slides you may enter.
**A SASE (self-addressed, stamped envelope) with sufficient postage must be included with your entry if you wish your slides returned. Artists living outside the United States can buy U.S. stamps to use on their SASE at the United Postal Service website. The USPS website also has a Rate Calculator that can tell you how much postage will be needed to mail your envelope and its contents from the U.S. back to your country. Secondly, you may include an International Postage Voucher, which can be purchased at almost any post office worldwide.

Each submitted slide must include the following information.

Front of slide must include the category you are entering, title of artwork, medium used to create the artwork, size and indication of top of slide.

Back of slide must include the artists name and address. Also include price of artwork if you wish your work to be eligible for a Purchase Award. Works do not need to be for sale for all other awards.

Sculptors must submit a minimum of 2 slides of a single sculpture from different views. Combined slides for each individual artwork will be counted as one slide entry.

Digital Submission
Resolution: Digital images must be at least 2100 pixels in width (horizontal images) or 2100 pixels in height (vertical images) and no larger than 3000 pixels in width or height. Example: A digital image measuring 5 x 7 inches at 300 dpi (dots per inch) would be 1500 pixels by 2100 pixels.

File format: Images must be in the JPEG or TIFF file format (with a .jpg or .tif extension). Save the images at maximum quality with as little compression as possible. File names must include the artistŐs name, title of artwork, dimensions (in inches with height first), and medium used to create the art work. Also include price of artwork in US dollars if you wish your work to be eligible for a Purchase Award. Works do not need to be for sale for all other awards. Example of file name:

Media: Send your digital images on a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM only. All CDŐs and DVDŐs must be labeled with the artists name, number of images submitted in each category entered. Please use a permanent marker to label your disk. Do not use adhesive stickers or labels on the disk. To protect your CD or DVD, we recommend putting it in a plastic jewel case or clamshell case and using a padded or cardboard envelope when shipping your entry.

Entry Fees
There is a required entry fee of $35 for the first slide entered and $25 for each additional slide. Artists may enter and win in one or all 5 categories; there is no limit to the number of slides you may enter. Fees are payable by credit card, check or money order. Enter your credit card details on the entry form or include a check or money order made payable to the Art Renewal Center.

2007 ARC Salon Catalog
A full color catalog will be published of all award winning entries and the top 100 finalists. catalogs may be purchased with your entry at the pre-publication price of $25.00. catalogs will be priced at $40.00 after publication. Order your copy of the 2007 catalog by filling out the ŇcatalogÓ portion on your entry form and including $25.00 with your entry fee.
