His pupils included \u003Ca href=\u0022/asp/database/art.asp?aid=186\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022 class=\u0022link\u0022\u003ELeonardo da Vinci\u003C/a\u003E and \u003Ca href=\u0022/asp/database/art.asp?aid=356\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022 class=\u0022link\u0022\u003ESandro Botticelli\u003C/a\u003E but he also influenced \u003Ca href=\u0022/asp/database/art.asp?aid=123\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022 class=\u0022link\u0022\u003EMichelangelo\u003C/a\u003E.\u003Cbr\u003E\u003Cbr\u003EHis best-known works include the bronze \u003Cu\u003EChrist and St Thomas\u003C/u\u003E (c.1465-83) at Orsanmichele, a bronze statue of \u003Cu\u003EDavid\u003C/u\u003E (c.1476) (modestly clad, in contrast to \u003Ca href=\u0022/asp/database/art.asp?aid=91\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022 class=\u0022link\u0022\u003EDonatello\u0027s\u003C/a\u003E provocative nude \u003Cu\u003EDavid\u003C/u\u003E), and the \u003Ca href=\u0022/asp/database/image.asp?id=12850\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022 class=\u0022link\u0022\u003EColleoni monument\u003C/a\u003E (1479-88) in Venice, which is the first equestrian statue in stone to depict one of the horse\u0027s legs in a raised position. In other words, the entire weight of the statue is carried on three legs rather than four.
