American Society of Traditional Artists, ASTA, was formed to showcase the talent of the many professional fine artists of today through the promotion of their art in an annual event sponsored by a National Art Museum. ASTA's goals are to recognize the best traditional realist artists working today by creating exhibition opportunities in major museums and providing marketing and technical assistance to these talented members in order to build bridges connecting art collectors and the highest quality traditional art. This organization is not for everyone with a paintbrush, their membership selection process is a cautious one designed to favor those that meet thier high standards of technique, talent, and creativity. They hope to nourish this talent and give the artists that have ventured into this traditional form an opportunity to showcase their work in National Art Museums and other prominent locations.
This year, their host venue is the spectacular Hotel Valley Ho that has recently undergone an $80M renovation. The Annual Show and Sale is a five week event in the prestigious Scottsdale Arts District of Arizona. They will be centrally located on Main Street among many quality high end art galleries, luxury shops and fine dining; attracting plenty of affluent visitors during the peak art season. October 8th, 2012 thru November 10th, 2012.

The Association of Fantastic Art (AFA) is dedicated to furthering the recognition and appreciation of imaginative realism, which includes broadly collected works by realist painters and sculptors whose craft springs from the roots of the 19th century, blending superb painting technique with highly imaginative narrative imagery. Throughout the majority of the 20th century, imaginative realists have predominantly worked as illustrators due to the denigration of classical painting, rendering them persona non grata to the gallery world. This is changing as imaginative realists of today are put in proper historical context, and for the first time in a century, imaginative realists can find venues, not only with prominent publishers, but in the private collector and gallery markets as well.
The Association of Fantastic Art meets its mission with a variety of efforts, encompassing exhibitions, education, publications and wide-ranging internet activities.
The annual IlluXCon symposium, founded in 2008, now draws artists and attendees from all over the world. Starting in 2013, it will have a prominent venue at the Allentown Art Museum, an AAM accredited institution with over 100,000 annual visitors. IlluXCon features an average display of over 1000 original works of art, and is filled with workshops, lectures and painting demonstrations by the foremost artists in the school as well as providing the field's leading opportunity for collectors to view and purchase original works.
AFA Directors, Patrick and Jeannie Wilshire, in addition to co-authoring several books including Visions of Never: The Collection of Fantastic Art and The Art of the Dragon: The Definitive Collection of Contemporary Dragon Paintings, are guest curators and lecturers for At the Edge: The Art of the Fantastic, opening June 3rd, 2012, at the Allentown Art Museum. This exhibition will feature over 150 works covering the entire 200-year span from the Romantics and Pre-Raphaelites through the Golden Age of Illustration to the present. This will be the largest and most comprehensive exhibition of imaginative realism ever to be held in a U.S. museum.

| The Atlantic Poetry Guild exists to help revive the significance of traditional poetry in our culture. They conduct public readings of the great poets, to restore their work to the cultural centrality it deserves. They host a series of professional development seminars for teachers of English and Language Arts, to offer guidance on how to present these masterpieces in the classroom, and maintain a weblog, The Quarterdeck, where they present thoughts and reflections on poetry, teaching, and the great works. | | Poetry is a necessity - this is their deepest conviction. They believe the unique beauty and wisdom which poetry has to offer is essential to the cultural health of any society. This is why they regard the neglect of the poetic tradition in our times as a great tragedy. Modern society has left no room in its culture for classic poets like Herbert or Keats or Housman, whose works appear to far too many of our contemporaries like alien or irrelevant artifacts of a time long past. As a result, the art form itself has been pushed ever farther into the margins of artistic and intellectual life. Contemporary poetry too often comes across as strange and esoteric, confirming the public's conception of poetry as an art form produced for the consumption of a small, fringe audience. Their goal is to remedy this situation, by restoring the classic tradition of poetry and bringing the masterpieces of the past back into cultural awareness. By presenting these great works to the public, in a variety of forums, they hope to revive the love and admiration which these poems have evoked in the past, and to demonstrate how vital their words continue to be. | Although the Atlantic Poetry Guild focuses on poetry versus the visual arts, their core beliefs are in line with the ARC philosophy. "Nothing is so important to the spiritual and mental flourishing of a people as its art. The stories they tell, the buildings they inhabit, the public spaces in which they gather, the songs they sing, the fashioned images they gaze upon, these things shape their souls more permanently and effectively than anything else." - Mark Anthony Signorelli, Atlantic Poetry Guild founder

The California Art Club, established in 1909, is one of the oldest, largest and most active fine art organizations in America. Its founding members were a handful of professional artists who migrated to Los Angeles from the Midwest and East Coast, drawn to the Golden State's natural beauty and year-round sunshine. With conditions that were ideal for outdoor painting, these pioneering artists gave birth to the first artistic movement to be defined as uniquely Californian - "California Impressionism." Today, as a dynamic nonprofit educational organization with more than 2,500 members around the world and nine chapters in California, the Club strives to expand the knowledge and appreciation of traditional fine arts. The mission of the Club is to promote the traditional fine arts in the fields of painting, drawing and sculpture and to provide educational programs and exhibitions that foster understanding and interpretation of traditional art heritage and California history. Through its extensive schedule of exhibitions and educational programs, as well as the award-winning California Art Club Newsletter, CAC supports a network of contemporary-traditional artists and provides opportunities for art enthusiasts, patrons, scholars and students to interact with these artists in order to better understand the creative process. The Club's hallmark event - the Annual Gold Medal Juried Exhibition - is presented each spring. Other activities include "Paint-Out/Sculpt-Outs," Master Artist Workshops, mentoring programs, demonstrations, and lectures on topics ranging from art marketing to collecting. The European Museum of Modern Art - MEAM exhibits some of the finest contemporary figurative art. It is owned by The Foundation of Arts and Artists and the purpose is to promote and diffuse figurative art of the 20th and 21st centuries. The Foundation's claim is to find a new contemporary language without denying tradition by progressing into the new century. Moreover, the Foundation of Arts and Artists, organizes each year the Figurativas Painting and Sculpture Awards, and with the website Figurativas en Red (www.figurativas.org) opens a window with the artworks of the contemporary figurative artists.
The MEAM is currentlly located at the Gomis Palace, in the middle of the streets of the Born in Barcelona, a neighborhood where culture is always present and reflects the charm of the old part of the city, an area that knew how to mix tradition and modernity, becoming a requiered visit for the tourits interested in the Monumental Barcelona. The MEAM is different from other contemporary art museums because it houses living artists who created figurative art. These artworks are hardly seen in other museums, to whom the word contemporary is identified by experiment and abstraction.

Foundation of the Art and the Artists |

 |

| The Witches House by Arantzazu Martinez |
The Foundation of the Art and the Artists (www.fundaciondelasartes.org) was created in December 2005 by the architect José Manuel Infiesta who has his official residence in Barcelona. The main purpose of the Foundation is the promotion and dissemination of realist art at all levels. They focus on the figurative, and very specifically, the art of the late nineteenth, twentieth and twenty-first century, what is known as Contemporary Realist Art, the art of the modern day. The Foundation of the Art and the Artists enhance the activity in defense of art and modern culture with specific projects that have clearly predetermined, specific goals. The Foundation was established with the aim of countering the great and exclusive protection that public authorities have with the so-called abstract art and empowered artists, figurative art automatically excluded from official initiatives. Support for this type of modern and contemporary figurative art is channeled through two distinct pathways: The first is the support for living artists to continue creating their works. This is done through international competitions, scholarships, sponsorships for specific artistic projects, and more. The second is to form public collections of Contemporary Realist art in areas where this art is difficult to find, thereby exposing it to the general public. This is done by giving body to stable collections in order to generate a museum or museums of this nature.

Like ARC, IGOR was founded with promoting contemporary artists who paint realistically using traditional painting techniques. It was founded in 2002 by professional artists from around the globe with four goals in mind:
- 1. Recognizing the best realists working today
- 2. Creating exhibition opportunities
- 3. Providing technical and promotional support
- 4. To offer a bridge between art collectors and the highest quality realist art, created by their members
To this end, The International Guild of Realism's mission is to advance realism in fine art through museum exhibitions, art gallery shows, workshops, education programs, marketing support and Internet exposure. The art accepted into their group ranges from classical realism (based upon the traditional, academic-style painting techniques) to contemporary realism (where cutting edge realism and subject matter are used to comment on today's world). Trompe l'oeil, photorealism, surrealism, and super-realism are some of the genres included within the range of realism choices for artists of the modern day.
The International Guild of Realism currently represents around 280 artists hailing from 35 countries around the world.
To help facilitate their goals, IGOR holds an annual juried international exhibition for their members. This year it will be held at the prestigious Jones & Terwilliger Galleries in the heart of the Carmel art district, California, USA. The gallery is centrally located among many quality art galleries, luxury shops and fine dining, attracting plenty of affluent visitors during the peak summer season, only two hours away from San Francisco. | Access by David Bowers | |

| PleinAir™ magazine was a favorite magazine of artists, collectors, dealers, and suppliers when it was published from 2004-2006. The quarterly print and digital journal is back by popular demand from the international community of people who love artwork based on direct observations of nature. The French term en plein air means "in the open air," but it's come to represent the art of painting outdoors on location. Though plein air painting has been practiced for generations by artists such as Rembrandt, John Constable, Claude Lorrain, Thomas Gainsborough, and others it was popularized by the French Barbizon School (1830-1870), a movement of painters named after the village of Barbizon, near Fountainbleau Forrest, where artists like Jean-Francois Millet, Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot, Theodore Roysseau, Charles-Francois Daubigny, Jules Dupre, and others gathered to paint. PleinAir™ magazine publishes articles that are filled with practical advice on materials and techniques, buying or selling artwork, discovering great painters, attending upcoming events & exhibitions, and joining others who share our passion. So what's in the new PleinAir™ magazine for you? The kind of beautiful images and practical advice that will make you a better painter, an astute collector, a successful supplier, an admired teacher, or an informed competitor. Make sure you and your friends are part of this dynamic community of people who love artwork based on direct observations of nature. | Subscribe TODAY by going to their website: http://www.outdoorpainter.com/subscribe.html In addition to the printed word, in April 2012, PleinAir™ magazine made history with the first convention devoted to painting en plein air, and the largest gathering of artists painting in one outdoor location simultaneously. They are doing it again, and the 2013 event promises to be bigger and even better. The 2013 Plein Air Convention is being held at the Monterey Convention Center, within walking distance of Fisherman's Wharf. The Representational Art Conference |

 Comico Divino by Tony Pro

The idea for planning The Representational Art Conference was born shortly after the opening of an exhibit at CLU - "The New Romantic Figure" showing works by prominent California figurative artists Michael Lynn Adams, Peter Adams, Jeremy Lipking, Cyn McCurry, Michael Pearce, Alexey Steele, Mia Tavonatti - which was extremely well received by the public, faculty and students of the University. Reflecting upon the depth of affection for the work, its democratic appeal and interested in learning about the place of 21st Century figurative painting in current academic discourse, Pearce found that there was a lack of attention to the work of traditionally trained artists in the 21st Century. Accordingly he asked his colleague Michael Adams to help him put together a conference, to create a place for discussion of the philosophy and practice of artists involved in the universities, colleges, ateliers and private studios where the techniques of the old masters are still taught and used in the present day. The CLU administration led by President Chris Kimball enthusiastically endorsed the idea, providing underwriting for the conference. Though TRAC2012 is the first, it is hoped that the TRAC will be an annual event, where critical appreciation of representational art and its roll in the 21st century can be appreciated, debated and discussed. The upcoming TRAC2012 event will take place from October 14 - 17, 2012 in Ventura, California, USA.
