I like trying to get people to identify with animals on a more personal level.  Animals have individual personalities that sometimes shine through.  As an artist I like to try to catch these moments.  If viewers of my work can relate to an animal's character, the more likely they are to develop a respect and fondness. I hope some of my paintings might help to bridge that gap, (especially for the not so pretty animals).

These colored ice formations occur along the steep banks of the Tahquamenon Falls in Northern Michigan.  On several summer occasions I have seen the resident Red Fox cruising the park looking for scraps.  I always have imagined how he deals with the fierce winter, when the park is a bit quieter.
