"Q Road Sunset was painted on location during the 2017 Door County Plein Air Invitational. I loved the silhouette of this quintessential Wisconsin barn with the sun setting behind it. A thunderstorm was approaching and I worked furiously to try and capture the glow of the sunset through the clouds. I had to hold onto my easel with one hand while I painted to keep it from blowing away in the wind! The combination of the intense weather and the speed with which I had to finish resulted in very energetic brush work. I was enormously honored to receive First Place for this piece by judge Peter Trippi, Editor of Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine." - JANE HUNT
