There is nothing more relaxing and enjoyable then to be alone fishing in a trout stream in one's youth. There is nowhere this boy needs to be. There is no stress of life and of its' adult concerns. In this painting I tried to capture that fleeting feeling of my youth. I love the light and how it peeks out of the trees into this boy's world. My son modeled for this painting and he looks a lot like I did at that age. I am hopeful we can all look at memorable times in our past and relive times of less concern, however briefly, in 'Beholden to None'.
