This is a portrait of my friend and fellow artist Taaron Parsons. A group of us were on a painting trip together in Montana during the winter, all of us would plein air paint landscapes during the day and then paint portraits at night at the cabin. One morning when we were getting ready to head out into the cold for a day of painting, Taaron was standing just outside the cabin door. I was walking out with my painting gear and I saw him and was struck at how the landscape of freshly fallen snow illuminated his silloutte ... I knew I had to paint this moment . He siad he was thinking about what he wanted to paint that day and also that he was missing his family. I love depicting a person in a moment of reflection, to me it's a true moment where they are unaware that they have become a living painting.
