I've always been interested in dual natures, and I consider the passage of day into night- and night into day- a fascinating and intense metamorphosis for the world around me. Familiar rooms, street corners and people take on an unfamiliar and unexpected character in the dark, and the rules of object permanence no longer seem to apply. This painting depicts the passage of the sun across a quiet room, and the transition from one world into another.
