My family seldom poses for me, so creating this piece of my mother and sister was an opportunity to explore themes of familial connectedness. I wanted the structure to convey their closeness with the repeating angles and the flowing shape of the light mass. This started as a graphite and crayon drawing, then was painted over with amber shellac and the highlights and shadows were heightened with oil paint.
