Ernst van de Wetering, world’s foremost authority on Rembrandt, 2018:

“Gezien van de Riet is an exceptionally gifted and driven artist. Her relation to nature in all its manifestations is astonishing. The love with which she captures those manifestations in her paintings arouses a special feeling of happiness in the beholder.”

As a sociologist I went to Bolivia, studied at the Escuela de Bellas Artes, La Paz, and as a painter I returned to Holland. I got guidance from Diederik Kraaijpoel, painter, former teacher at the academy based on the classical method, and important publicist on (post)modernism and modern realism.

My themes: nature and people. My techniques: oil paint, tempera, and crayon.

I am an ‘Associated Living Master’ of the Art Renewal Center. My work is included in Galería artelibre’s Grandes Autores category; also in Art Gallery Clatia. Exhibitions, publications and competitions: see my website.

My blog focusses on modern realism. I gave lectures, also at TRAC2018, The Representational Art Conference, that took place in Holland.
