Candace X. Moore

United States

The human form is an essential element of Candace’s art.  She believes that in a portrait of one person, we see all people, including ourselves.  She prefers to portray her subjects alone, in the absence of social interactions.  This is when she finds them most authentic and timeless, qualities she tries to infuse into all her images.

From 2009 to 2013 she studied traditional drawing and painting techniques at the Watts Atelier in Encinitas, California. While her primary focus has always been the human figure, in the past few years she has found time to study landscape painting and drawing with Deborah Paris of the Landscape Atelier. Her artistic development during the past 10 years is documented on her blog at

Her work is held in many private collections, and she has participated in numerous national and international exhibitions.  Most recently she won the Realism Award of Excellence in the Oil Painters of America 2018 Juried Salon Show, and was a finalist in the OPA 2019 National Juried Exhibition of Traditional Oils.
