Mark B. Goodson

United States

Utah based fine art oil painter, Mark B. Goodson, has been honing his skills as a representational painter working in a realistic style since 2005.

He does not paint for art’s sake, he makes no dumb idols. Much of his work is about human life, people and their things, life’s struggle’s and its joys. He believes our deepest, most satisfying pleasures and accomplishments come from working and loving thru our most difficult challenges. Mark finds pleasure in expressing the human experience in fine art

After earning a Master of Fine Art degree at The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA)

Mark has continued to strengthen the unique attributes of his painterly work, which include a richness of color combined with the natural beauty of light and shadow.

With a solid understanding of, and appreciation for, values, edges, texture and reflected light, his painted forms have native volume and mass. Elements play well together in a true sense of atmosphere with good depth of field.

Mark is eclectic in his subject matter with Portraiture, Narrative, Religious, Landscape and Still Life. His deepest pleasure comes with painting humans as he says “people are the most fascinating thing on the planet.” His second favorite genre is Still Life, particularly when painting man-made items which show wear from use. Examples include his series of American made toys from the 1940’s, 50’s, and 60’s… Yoyo’s, Tinker Toys, and Soap Bubbles etc…

Mark was awarded a Certificate of Excellence in the Portrait Society of America’s International Competition. He was also awarded first place in the Springville Museum of Art’s Spring Salon.
