"Cipolla" has only been previously exhibited at my exhibition, as honoree at the 4th International Biennial Pastel d' Opale in Saint Leonard, France. This painting from life was a simple group of heirloom onions that I grew in my garden. When harvested, my wife braided them together for storing. I set them against a blank wall in my studio and let the light from a window give a soft shadow, focusing the intricacy of the twisted crinkled stems of the onions against the blankness of the wall.
