Andrea Mosley

At 35 years of age, classically trained artist, Andrea Mosley, has quite an impressive repertoire of classical drawings and paintings in the style of the great masters.  Andrea studied at the atelier Angel Academy of Art in Florence, Italy for four years under the training of world-renowned artist, John Angel, who himself was a student of the great Pietro Annigoni. 

After completing the four-year Fundamental Program at Angel Academy, she was offered a full-ride scholarship to enter their Master Portrait Painting Graduate Program, which she completed in one year.

Andrea already has many accolades to her name, having won first place in the international 2009 Art Renewal Center Scholarship Competition.  She also received an honorable mention and was a finalist in the Art Renewal Center art competition in 2009 and 2013 Salon, as well as in the Portrait Society of America in 2014.  She was one of 20 international students to be awarded free tuition and board in the Hudson River School summer painting course in 2008.  This award was given based on the quality of the work shown.   In 2013, she won Best of Show at the AAIE art competition and the Rancho Cucamonga city award for Best Painting. In both 2016 and 2017 Andrea participated in the juried California Gold Medal show, held at the Gene Autry Museum. Her work was displayed on last years cover for the show. This show also lead to an article naming her an “up and coming artist to watch” in Southwest Art Magazine. She is currently working on a couple series of gold leaf and miniature portrait paintings. One of the miniature paintings “Curly Top” was selected to go into the California Art Club Gold Medal exhibition 2018 that was held at the Natural History Museum in LA. In 2019 Andrea entered and placed two paintings in California Art Club’s Gold Medal Show held at the Pasadena Museum of Art.

While home in California, Andrea has been an instructor at Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art, Laguna College of Art and Design, as well as, teaching students privately in her studio. Andrea Mosley has a variety of skills in the field of classical art. She has expansive knowledge in the use of mediums such as graphite, charcoal, and oil paints.

In her free time, Andrea accepts portrait commissions, and was awarded the honor of painting Marvel comic book creator, Stan Lee.
