Lauren Gabor

United States

Lauren Gabor was born and raised in Greenwich Village in the 1960s. She studied art history, receiving her BA from Swarthmore College, and became a decorator and production designer for film in Los Angeles. In 1998 she retired from the cinema to raise two children.  On an extended tripto Florence with her family, a lifelong passion for academic art finally convinced Lauren to pursue a career as a figurative artist. In 2010, Lauren joined the Los Angeles atelier of Richard Morris to build a classical foundation in drawing and painting, followed by alla prima instruction from Sean Cheetham, Aaron Westerberg, and Stephen Assael. Inspired by the wild California coast, Lauren studied plein air landscape technique with Marc Dalessio and Kevin MacPherson. She divides her time between Los Angeles and Big Sur, California.
