The fact that these vases can be exhibited again for the first time after the war and post-war damage caused by the collection of the Berlin State Museum in Berlin is due to a six-year cooperation project with the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles. In this project the vessels - some in Los Angeles and others in Berlin - were carefully restored. In addition, the modern history of the vassal group, which had already come to Berlin museums in 1828, was also explored.

In addition to exciting archaeological aspects, the exhibition also examines the first restoration of the vases in the workshop of the Neapolitan restorer Raffaele Gargiulo. This completed missing scenes with such great mastery that contemporaries spoke of "dangerous perfection": supplements and antique originals were no longer distinguishable.
