"Letters To A Young Poet was inspired by the book with the same title by Rainer Maria Rilke. The painting evolved from an abstract vision using meditative marks and an exploration of what I felt was an important overall message resounding throughout the pages. I found myself coming back to this excerpt as a key source of inspiration for the painting: 'Things are not all so tangible and expressible as one would mostly have us believe; most experiences are inexpressible, taking place in a realm which no word has ever entered, and more inexpressible than all else are works of art, mysterious existences, the life of which, while ours passes away, endures.'" - Vanessa Lemen
