An Appointment in Siena by Gavin Glakas

I teach a workshop in Tuscany each summer and one year I found myself in Siena for two days alone painting. I majored in Medieval History in college, with a minor in Painting, and part of my soul lives in the Middle Ages. So when I found the winding streets, crenelated walls and looming turrets of Siena, I was overcome by the need to capture a sense of that perfect synthesis of beauty, mystique and danger.
