Fall Morning, Wildlife Refuge by Jim McVicker

Fall Morning, Wildlife Refuge was painted onsite at a wildlife refuge just a few miles from our home. I have painted there a lot over the years. I like taking a large canvas out on location at the same time each day. It's a way to experience the landscape at a deeper level than going out to paint a quick small work. This piece was completed in 2020, or at least I thought so. After spending quite some time away from it, and then viewing the piece, I immediately felt it was not working and needed more attention. So in the fall of 2021 I took the piece back to the same location for a few more sessions and am so glad I did.
