Although we often relate the male African lion as the King of the Beasts, sometimes there are a ‘Pair of Kings’ that co-mingle and dominate their pride jointly. It is often brothers that were originally forced out of their birth pride and became nomads together and eventually took over another pride by forcing out a weaker male. My painting depicts a dramatic exchange of a matter of opinion that is more posturing than anything else. These interactions are instinctual and display that they are the masters of their domain.
