The work was created with the vertical hatching technique in watercolor on a pencil base. The subject is inspired by the bear cave that is at the top of the staircase shown here, in the locality of San Giovanni d'Antro in the Natisone valleys (in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region in Italy). The bear depicted is of the species marsicana, one of the most endangered.
