Cristina by Christopher Remmers

Cristina was someone that I lived in close proximity with for a few years. During this time she was moving through a hard recovery period and we wanted to capture this moment in time as a prayer. I have come to know her as quite the "witchy woman" in all the best ways and her love for burning sage around the house became a sweet familiarity. Her posing for this portrait was a ceremony of sorts and she arrived as a shaman, filling the space with plumes of smoke and a presence with conviction that she was going to be ok. I was honored to paint her.
