I'm becoming increasingly interested in the idea of wholeness as it relates to our journey to know and understand ourselves from a symbolic stance. In Grasping at Unity I was exploring the dynamic between the timeless relationship of the masculine and feminine.
As an artist, I have always aimed to be not only aware but sensitive to the feminine nature that exists in me as a creator. I see the feminine as being inherent in the creative and open side of our humanity. As a man, I am keenly aware of how my bias influences this dynamic within myself. I see the masculine counterpart grasping for control and order, held within the constraints of knowing. Therefore, grasping at unity.
