Jeff’s artwork Is puzzling and dazzling at the same time. He seems to present a different style of artwork depending on the medium he chooses. Regardless of the medium his approach is the same and the outcome is always compelling and accessible to the viewer reaching whoever it needs to.
Peace through the expression of the visual arts. Even though most of his visual endeavours start out with an amount of anxiety, he ventures forward with an intrepid pursuit to be in the moment to capture whatever it is that presents itself in whatever medium it calls for and releasing the ego to the whims of creative expression. Artwork is always the result… Artwork that transcends any and all defining borders, where all thoughts and critics are welcome to experience the spectacle of visual journaling… and no matter how this spectacle has been experienced by the viewer, the artist has already achieved his goal… to push past any reservations or preconceived notions of intent, to be still... in the moment and record any sense that can be sensed.
Confusing as it may appear to those of influence or to the industry that is the arts… this is his intent… to make as it happens in whatever form it wants to come in. Peace and oneness through a collection of visual journals. No labels necessary.
Jeffrey Weekes is a Toronto born artist whose achievements have spanned more than 2 decades.
A self-taught artist, he has explored the world of Surrealist oil paintings, landscapes, large scale paintings & murals, reproductions, illustrative works, mosaics and portraiture with completed commissions ranging in media from pen & ink, graphite & charcoal, coloured chalk pencil, oil, watercolour, acrylic, and woodwork & furniture design.
After years of independent exploration and personal practice in the arts, he made the necessary leap back into the classroom. He studied part-time for 5 years at The Academy of Realist Art in Toronto, learning the old masters tradition of classical oil painting. Working in this rigid studious environment has enriched his understanding of oil painting and elevated his rendering techniques to a new height.
The excitement of future endeavours is driving his passion to be in the studio and to keep creating. Whether it be a commissioned work or for personal enrichment, he’s always striving to stay atop his craft with aptitude, integrity, heart, and above all creativity.
