Paul Dixon

South Africa

Paul Dixon is a painter of wildlife based in Cape Town, South Africa. His work is primarily oil on linen but he occasionally works in pastel or graphite.

As a self-taught artist Paul has developed his own 'realistic' but not 'photographic' style. He strives to capture the light and atmosphere that affects the subjects he paints in their natural environment using his own references lending authenticity to the finished works.

His work has been exhibited in th United States, the United Kingdom and across Southern Africa on numerous occasions and can subsequently be found in private and corporate collections globally.

Paul has had his work featured in various International publications on a number of occasions including The Artist Magazine (US), International Artist Magazine,  The Artist (UK) The Artist's Magazine (US), American Art Collector and Artist's Magazine (US).

He has been the recipient of several awards including the International Artist Magazine Grand Prize 2013 and most recently the Best in Category; David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year 2020.

He has been a Signature member of the US based Society of Animal Artists since the year 2000.

To raise awareness and much needed funds, Paul donates paintings and drawings on a regular basis to worthy causes to help conserve endangered species in Africa. If he is not in his studio...he is probably in the bush rekindling his soul and collecting reference for new works!
