He received a B.A. in Studio Arts from The University of the South in 1983 and spent several years as a 19\u003C/span\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Csup\u003Eth\u003C/sup\u003E\u003C/span\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E \u0026ndash; early 20\u003C/span\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Csup\u003Eth\u003C/sup\u003E\u003C/span\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E century art dealer before going on to train in the Classical Realist atelier of Richard Lack in Minneapolis, Minnesota.\u0026nbsp; There he completed four years of apprentice study in 1991.\u003C/span\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan\u003EThis training provided a unique opportunity to become part of one of the world\u0026rsquo;s longest and most important artistic traditions \u0026ndash; an academic approach to observing and rendering nature accurately and to crafting paintings using the techniques of the Old Masters.\u0026nbsp; This classical tradition has been passed down directly from the late 18\u003C/span\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Csup\u003Eth\u003C/sup\u003E\u003C/span\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E century, with the beginning of the French Academy, through an uninterrupted master/pupil relationship to the Boston School painters a century ago - and then on to a new generation of contemporary realist painters today.\u003C/span\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan\u003EAfter working with Lack, Walker moved to Florence, Italy to study Italian masterpieces and to teach drawing and painting at the Charles H.
