Rick J. Delanty is a Californian by birth and in spirit, finding in this state a love for nature and wonder of Creation which he has continued to explore in his colorful and expressive oil and acrylic landscape paintings. Born in Santa Rosa, Ca, he attended UC Santa Barbara, obtaining a secondary teaching credential in 1974, and degrees in English Literature and Studio Painting and Drawing.

Rick joined the faculty of San Clemente High School in southern California as Painting and Drawing instructor and department chair, his career spanning 32 years until his retirement in 2006. Subsequently, he taught drawing, studio painting, and plein air painting to adults until the onset of Covid. During the past year, Rick created a body of work for his solo show at the Casa Romantica Cultural Center in May-June 2021, and wrote a book entitled "Beauty Unites Us" (ISBN no. 978-0-578-872-87234-6), with foreword by Jean Stern.

Rick is a national award-winning artist in plein air competitions around the West, and in exhibitions across the United States, including the California Art Club’s Gold Medal show.

Rick has practiced his craft professionally over forty years, painting from Big Sur to Niagara Falls, and teaching and demonstrating in a variety of venues. In 2019 he was selected for the faculty of the National Plein Air Convention. Delanty paintings are in the permanent collections of two prominent museums, with twenty originals in one of the largest private collections of California art in the nation.
