City of the Soul: Rome and the Romantics

Published August 11, 2016

This exhibition considers the ever-evolving identities of Rome during a pivotal period in the city's history, 1770–1870.

The exhibition displays a century of artistic impressions of Rome through a superb selection of prints and drawings by recognized masters such as Giovanni Battista Piranesi, J. M. W. Turner, and Edward Lear along with lesser known artists whose work deserves greater attention.

The exhibition runs until September 11, 2016 at the Morgan Library, located on 225 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10016.
