Atelier School of Classical Realism Featured in American Artist
May 28, 2009
An article about ARC Approved™ Atelier, Atelier School of Classical Realism of Oakland, California is featured in the Spring 2009 Edition of American Artist Workshop Magazine. Profiled by American Artist Magazine editor-in-chief M. Stephen Doherty, the article proceeds to describe the taking of steps toward stronger drawings & paintings in Atelier studies by using the sight-size method of measurement and linear shape construction, plus a three-step process of tonal development to describe lighting and atmosphere. The Atelier takes care to limit the size of class enrollments so that students may profit from more individual guidance when learning traditional procedures. |
David Bowers is now an ARC Living Master™
May 27, 2009
David Bowers is now an ARC Living Master™. ...Bowers' paintings incorporate modern themes and ideas. There is always a message in his work. For him the idea is the most challenging and rewarding part of the painting. Symbolism is a main ingredient in his work. Bowers' work has been included in several group exhibitions at the Halcyon Gallery in London, including an international show at Harrods entitled, "Art of Living." David shared the spotlight with such luminaries as Rembrandt, Chagall and Warhol. | by David Bowers |
After a very successful one man show titled, "The Human Condition" in 2005 and several other shows in London for the past seven years at the Halcyon Gallery, Bowers decided he needed to be represented in his home country of the United States and is currently being exhibited at the Klaudia Marr Gallery in Santa Fe, NM. Bowers' paintings are in many private collections throughout the United States and Europe as well as The Museum of American Illustration in New York and the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC. . "Picasso Undone" by Fred Ross
May 8, 2009
"Teaching and information can add to the depth of understanding of great works of art, but they are great initially by their ability to capture the soul and imagination of the viewer, without thousands of words to instruct us on how to deny the evidence of our own senses and to deny our innate sense of truth and reason." Click Here for the entire article, the third installment published by Epoch Times on Mr. Ross' address to over 700 portrait artists, gallery owners and members of the press at the Metropolitan Museum in New York during the American Society of Portrait Artists (ASOPA) Conference in 2001.
