Richard MacDonald Exhibition

October 29, 2013

ARC Living Master™ Richard MacDonald will be exhibiting a retrospective exploration of his figurative sculpture from November 1 - December 2, 2013.
A life long passion for dance led Richard MacDonald to create a significant body of work inspired by dancers, performers, and mimes. Works such as Nureyev and Doves draw on his love for classical ballet, while in 2001 he began working with performers from Cirque du Soleil, and an entirely new genre was born. The excitement and energy conveyed by MacDonald's Cirque du Soleil inspired works quickly won admirers – including Guy Laliberte, the creator of Cirque du Soleil. Their mutual admiration developed into a partnership that brings the world Richard MacDonald's experience of the theatrical wonders of Cirque du Soleil: sculptures that reflect the unique, 21st century art form that is Cirque du Soleil.
Blind Faith by Richard MacDonald

Congratulations to Mary Jane Q Cross

October 25, 2013

ARC Associate Living Master™, Mary Jane Q Cross, has recently won Best in Show in the IGOR Annual Exhibition for her painting titled "Gently Letting Go".

Accompanying the 48 x 36 inch oil painting Cross wrote the following poem which was part of the experience in the enjoyment of the work:
What stone in this life can you not hold
Visions self serving as we grow old
Leaving us drained of meaningfulness
Hollowed out with emptiness

Soften, yield then gently let go
The troubling pebbles from which we sow
Burdensome presumption of ours alone
That weights the heart as heaviest stone

Give to God the open hand
Laying down encumbrances, to solemnly stand
He pours through your fingers, to full overflow
Fulfilling desires that you did not know

Until you let go of what you perceive
From Him the best you cannot receive
So...soften, yield then gently let go
That His perfect gifts may into your life flow

Gently Letting Go by Mary Jane Q Cross

Innocent World by Han Wu Shen
Two Shen paintings recently came to auction at the major October 6, 2013 Sotheby's Hong Kong Contemporary Chinese Art Sale.

Both paintings sold well. The first, titled Innocent World, brought the high-estimate at 350,000 HKD (45,134 USD) and the second, titled Golden Age, well exceeded the 180,000 - 250,000 HKD estimate and sold for 375,000 HKD (48,358 USD).

Golden Age by Han Wu Shen
Shen's prices appear to be on a steady move upwards as these paintings now hold the second and third spots for highest prices his works have brought at auction, being surpassed only by one of his paintings at the April 6, 2013 Sale bringing almost 80,000 USD.

We will keep you updated as more Shen's come to auction in the months to follow.
