Saints and Monsters: Prints by Albrecht Durer

September 29, 2015

This exhibit explores works in the Dallas Museum of Art’s collection by the Renaissance German artist Albrecht Durer. Durer left a profound mark on the course of art history through his contributions to the field of printmaking. Deeply religious, Durer's work often depicts saints or spiritual scenes while other prints featured terrorizing monsters, which served as warnings for those who did not follow Christian teachings.

The DMA is located at 1717 North Harwood, Dallas, Texas 75201 and the exhibit runs from August 9 – November 8, 2015.

Three New Additions to ARC Live Salon

September 25, 2015

Cunning of the Conjurer by Joel Carson Jones
Three new works have been added to the list of paintings to be exhibited in the traveling exhibition for the 2014/2015 ARC Salon. Today we are adding Best Trompe L'oeil, Cunning of the Conjurer by ARC Living Master™ Joel Carson Jones, also First Place in the Sculpture Category, The Reaper by Tyson Snow, and an Honorable Mention in the Figurative Category, The Red Gourd of the Day, by Katsu Nakajima.
"Cunning of the Conjurer not only allowed me to delve into my childhood fascination with metaphysics, but also gave me the opportunity to fuse an investigation of youth with a more pressing metaphor: the artist's buoying of gentleness, beauty, and delicacy slightly above dollar bills, the pecuniary responsibilities of adulthood. Trompe l'oeil enables me to create layers of tensions, space, and separations- - youth and age, play and fear. In a culture where speed and change cause stability and durability to implode, distort, and be recast, the artist is the magician, the one who must find transcendent images and compositions in which to embed a message, a feeling, a hope for the future"

-Joel Carson Jones

We have received a number of requests from artists who have been asked to participate in the live exhibition if we will provide an opportunity for them to sell their paintings. Because of this we have decided to do so. Many of the works on exhibit are also available for sale, a full list of these works can be found at the below link.

Power and Pathos: Bronze Sculpture of the Hellenistic World

September 23, 2015

During the Hellenistic period from the death of Alexander the Great in 323 B.C. until the establishment of the Roman Empire in 31 B.C., the medium of bronze drove artistic innovation. Sculptors moved beyond Classical norms, supplementing traditional subjects and idealized forms with realistic renderings of physical and emotional states. This unprecedented exhibition unites fifty significant bronzes of the Hellenistic age. New discoveries appear with works known for centuries, and several closely related statues are presented side by side for the first time.
The exhibit is located at the Getty Center - 1200 N Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90049 and runs from July 28 - November 1, 2015.

New Works Added to ARC Live Salon

September 18, 2015

Three new works have been added to the list of paintings to be exhibited in the traveling exhibition for the 2014/2015 ARC Salon. Today we are adding the runner up for Best Nude by ARC Living Master™, Duffy Sheridan, an Honorable Mention in the Drawing Category, Fleeting Dream, by ARC Living Master™, Gordon Hanley, and This is not Graffiti, a finalist work by our Third Place Landscape Winner, Ana Schmidt.
"'The physical world is the language of the spiritual world.', (Tom Price) I wish for this thought to dominate my artistic perspective so that I might strive to exist in a state of wide-eyed wonder. Like most artists, I have always been fascinated with how the expression of any object is totally controlled by its surrounding environment. This observation allows us to understand to a greater degree how all things serve each other and influence our perception of the world."

- Duffy Sheridan

Three More Works Added to ARC Salon Exhibit

September 11, 2015

Three new works have been added to the list of paintings to be exhibited in the traveling exhibition for the 2014/2015 ARC Salon. Today we are adding the Third Place Figurative Winner, Incarnation, Katsu Nakajima, an ARC Staff Award, A Poison Tree, by Katherine Stone, and a finalist work by ARC Living Master, Anna Wypych, titled Creature.

Incarnation by Katsu Nakajima
About Incarnation, Nakajima said the following, "Japanese people have a unique sense of animism for nature which pervades all aspects of our daily lives. It is evident in the respect we have for nature, and we feel it in everything from the mountains to the forests, spring water, a pebble by the roadside or a single tree. Incarnation, my painting, portrays the changes a person undergoes, triggered by an unidentified internal or external force. The mind and spirit echo off one another, and the balance sways back and forth like a pendulum. It was inspired by a vision of the fragility of our ability to reason, hanging delicately in the balance and embodying the characteristics of this belief, that nature has a soul."
We have received a number of requests from artists who have been asked to participate in the live exhibition if we will provide an opportunity for them to sell their paintings. Because of this we have decided to do so. Many of the works on exhibit are also available for sale, a full list of these works can be found at the below link.

New Works Added to MEAM Exhibit

September 4, 2015

Texas of the South Pacific
by Christian Hemme
Three new works have been added to the list of paintings to be exhibited in the traveling exhibition for the 2014/2015 ARC Salon. Today we are adding the First Place Landscape Winner, Christian Hemme’s painting of Texas of the South Pacific, as well as two finalist works. The first is by Elena Green titled The Best Part of the Meat. Elena won an honorable mention in the 2014/2015 ARC Salon with a different work, as well as a Purchase Award and Third Place Drawing in the 2013/2014 ARC Salon. We are also adding Finding The Gold, by ARC Living Master™, David Bowers.
"As an artist working on the Florida Gulf Coast, I am especially drawn to the maritime landscapes inherent to this area: coastal scenes of the bays, inlets, and beaches, as well as the working boats that come into the Port of Pensacola and nearby marinas. The behemoths of the petroleum industry are rather unique subjects; collectors have responded positively to their massive, complex aesthetic. This particular vessel, the Texas, has been in Pensacola several times over the past year for maintenance. The ship is a DP Saturation Diving Vessel that hails from Port Vila, in the South Pacific island of Vanuatu. The painting was inspired by the wonderful color harmony and atmosphere of the scene, coupled with the usual amazing multiplicity of textures and geometric shapes present in industrial maritime subject matter."
- Christian Hemme

We have received a number of requests from artists who have been asked to participate in the live exhibition if we will provide an opportunity for them to sell their paintings. ARC Living Master™ Nelson Shanks

September 1, 2015

ARC Living Master™ and head of Studio Incamminati Nelson Shanks passed away on Friday, August 28, 2015 from complications from cancer. Shanks became world famous for his paintings of international luminaries ranging from Pope John Paul II to Supreme Court justices. However, as much as his art, he wanted his legacy to be Studio Incamminati, School for Contemporary Realist Art, which he founded with his wife Leona. “Studio Incamminati’s purpose,” he once said, “is to produce great competence and the great painters of the next generation.” Nelson Shanks left an amazing legacy of both his own art as well as well trained artists. He will be missed.
