New ARC Letter
November 30, 2015
"Mr. Fred Ross, I just came across your website a few days ago and it is amazing!!! I also just read your piece Why Realism? and it speaks volumes. As an artist for over 30 years, I just could not understand how people could praise and value "modern abstract art" over and over again. It seemed as if non-representational art is able to garner more publicity and attention than traditional realism. I am glad to see there is a push back to traditional realism..." - William Leung To read the full letter click here. To read Why Realism? by Frederic C. Ross, click here. |

New Article - The Power of TRAC 2015
November 20, 2015
"The 2015 Representational Art Conference, which was held this past November 1st through the 4th, is one of the most important events for the visual arts in our culture to come into existence. In only three years, its depth, scope and reach have grown with meaningful acceleration. It is because of its very "depth" that it is such a successful conference. It is a place to discover new ideas and new friends, a place to debate and enjoy the power of representational art. It is both an intellectual experience and a place of comradery. Not every artist who paints in the representational tradition agrees on everything, but at TRAC we are all there to support the ascendance of representational art. TRAC is about layers of meaning and the direction of culture itself...art's purpose, art's soul." To read the full article by Sherry Ross, please click here. |

New ARC Associate Living Master™
November 17, 2015
ARC is pleased to welcome Eric Armusik as an ARC Associate Living Master™.
Born in 1973, fine artist Eric Armusik grew up in the northeastern coal region of Pennsylvania. Once one of the largest coal mining operations in the county, his hometown was a landscape riddled with the depressions of post-industry. In contrast to the blight was a diverse ethnic community strong in faith. What the community lacked in public art and museums it made up for it with churches on each city block. It was there that Eric had his first experiences with art, staring at the walls and ceilings at church on Sunday. The traditions and academic realism of Catholic religious paintings and artwork made a permanent impression that continues to influence his work today.

Beaux Arts Ball of 2015
November 11, 2015
The Florence Academy of Arts held its first Beaux Arts Ball this past Friday, the 6th of November, 2015, at the elegant catering facility, Cipriani's 25 on Broadway. It was a huge success in raising funds for the Florence Academy's Building Fund, and it was a spectacular experience.
It reminded one of the great balls held in the 1950s by the Art Students League and of course heralds back further to the grand 19th century Beaux Art balls of France in which people came in costumes as famous artists or subjects of famous paintings. This ball was no less of an extravaganza with over 300 in attendance. |
