CPAP Sponsors the Landscape Category

1 March, 2016

We are proud to introduce California Plein Air Painters (CPAP) as a sponsor for this year's Landscape Category in the 12th International ARC Salon. We are further pleased that they have helped create and will sponsor a brand new Plein Air Category for the 13th International ARC Salon slated for 2017. CPAP and ARC believe that Plein Air Painting is truly a special genre, style and technique and deserves its own recognition as a major component of the representational art movement. Artists world-wide will be invited to submit their plein air creations in this category.
CPAP was created for artists who love to paint outdoors. Their main goal is to provide a venue where plein air artists of all different skill levels can interact with each other, display their art and improve their skills in all aspects of painting. Artists can, not only display their artwork, but also participate in lively discussions ranging from professional practices to marketing. Members can also promote their own exhibits and events. Interaction between members is furthered through their chapters, groups, exhibits, workshops, paint-outs and contests that offer instruction, discussion and challenges to all of their Members.

If you would like to sponsor a category in the 12th International ARC Salon, please contact kara.ross@artrenewal.org.

This year we are introducing a new 8th category for portraiture in the ARC Salon. This important genre first thrived 5,000 years ago in ancient Egypt. Since then it has always served as more than just a visual record and has been used to demonstrate power, importance, virtue, beauty, wealth or taste; but most importantly, portraits are intended to capture the soul of the sitter. Nature and the American Vision

3 March, 2016

Nature and the American Vision is a landmark exhibition featuring nearly fifty masterpieces from the New-York Historical Society's acclaimed collection of landscape paintings, the most revered in the country. In addition to the beauty and historic value of the paintings, the exhibition charts the emergence of the Hudson River School, considered the nation’s first original artistic movement, and includes iconic works by luminaries alongside rarely seen masterpieces. Rising to eminence during the mid-nineteenth century, this loosely knit group of painters, poets, and writers forged a self-consciously American artistic voice, one grounded in the exploration of the natural world as a resource for spiritual renewal and as an expression of cultural and national identity.
The exhibition runs from February 26 - May 8, 2016 and is being held at Milwaukee Art Museum - 700 N Art Museum Dr, Milwaukee, WI 53202.
