ARC Scholarship Competition Begins Tomorrow

The Art Renewal Center Scholarship Competition begins on May 1, 2021 and runs until May 31, 2021.
From the contest participants, we will select a group of students, no less than 10 to receive between them $30,000.
We are also introducing this year, The Brian Yoder Memorial Scholarship, which will be an ongoing award in the ARC Scholarship Competition.
In addition we will be offering The AAPL Award (American Artists Professional League) in the amount of $2,000.

Mythological Passions: Titian, Veronese, Allori, Rubens, Ribera, Poussin, Van Dyck, Velázquez

The exhibition Mythological Passions offers a unique opportunity to see one of the greatest groups of mythological paintings created in Europe in the 16th and 17th century.
Mythological Passions brings together 29 works: 16 from the Museo del Prado and 13 loaned from other institutions. Particularly notable is the fact that this exhibition makes it possible to see the mythological paintings created by Titian for Philip II between 1553 and 1562 and known as the poesie for the first time in Spain since the 16th century.
The exhibition will be on display from March 2 - July 4, 2021 at the Museo del Prado, Calle Ruiz de Alarcón 23, Madrid, 28014.

Thomas Eakins in New Jersey

The John F. Studio Museum is pleased to present, “Thomas Eakins in New Jersey.” While mostly known as a Philadelphia painter, Thomas Eakins spent important time in New Jersey using his brush and camera to present activities he enjoyed in the marshlands, as well as the work of the shad fishermen in Gloucester County in southern New Jersey. This exhibition for the first time presents the New Jersey aspect of Eakins’ work.
The exhibition runs from May 1 - June 27, 2021 at John F. Peto Studio Museum, 102 Cedar Ave, Island Heights, NJ 08732.

One Year Program at the Florence Classical Arts Academy

The ARC Approved Florence Classical Arts Academy offers a One-Year Course, which can then be extended into the full Three-Year Course https://www.artac.org/diploma-in-visual-arts. This course provides the students with highly individual and customized training in small student groups.
The FCAA works only with the best teachers who teach the Russian method according to a unique system developed at the Academy. This education system is based on the Russian constructive method and the ability to use the full palette of colors.
The professors meet students at their level of preparation and artistic background. The sequence of learning unfolds from drawing and painting basic geometrical figures, then still-life then casts and finally leading to portraiture. This program enables a student to gain the necessary applied knowledge in order to begin building their portfolio.
Winter Enrollment Intensive Program is a One-Year program in a shifted and also shorter time frame. In the period February - May apart from normal daily classes, the student takes 3 evening classes per week included in the curriculum. The number of academic hours equals the One-Year program starting in October.

WINTER ENROLLMENT INTENSIVE PROGRAM* - 31 January 2022
The FCAA is also offering an online program for classical painting and drawing that is not subscription based but is a full-rounded course which takes students from basic knowledge to drawing and painting portraiture with a life model in 12 months. The program includes assignments, personal coaching, individual and group critique, student forum and exam sessions that provide structure to your daily online studies. Awakening Realism

"Awakening Realism" is presenting 50 paintings and drawings from the Miano Apprenticeship Program at the ARC Approved Southern Atelier. These beautiful drawings and paintings exemplify the fine art tradition and are a feast for the eyes.
Also, artist Charles Miano will be presenting a visual presentation on the main stage as well as unveiling a recent portrait commission piece on April 27, 2021 at 6PM EST. Masks will be required for entry into the facility and guidelines will be followed throughout the evening.

Botticelli to Van Gogh: Masterpieces from the National Gallery, London

For the first time in its near 200-year history, the National Gallery, London has toured an exhibition of works internationally. Drawing on the strengths of their collection, this exhibition offers a rare opportunity to see 61 paintings by some of Europe’s most revered artists.
Spanning 450 years, it provides an overview of Western European art history through seven defining periods: Italian Renaissance painting; Dutch painting of the Golden Age; Van Dyck and British portraiture; The Grand Tour; The discovery of Spain; Landscape and the picturesque; and France and the rise of modern art.
The exhibition runs from March 5 - June 14, 2021 at the National Gallery of Australia, Parkes Place, Parkes ACT 2600.

Bite Size - Small Works 2021

Rehs Gallery is holding a small works exhibit featuring a wide variety of paintings that all measure 12 x 12 inches or less. Among the 20 included artists will be ARC Living Artist Stuart Dunkel, ARC Living Masters William Davis and Ken Salaz, as well as many others, with more than 70 available pieces. With such a diverse mix of artists, there is sure to be a little something for everyone. These small, affordable works are a great way to continue building your art collection or get started altogether!
The works are on display for the month of April at Rehs Contemporary Galleries, Inc., 5 East 57th Street, 8th Floor, New York, NY 10022.

ARC Salon Exhibition Dates Announced

The 15th ARC Salon Exhibition will be on view at Sotheby’s NY, 1334 York Ave, New York City from July 16 – July 26 of this year with a public opening on July 17th. RSVPs will be required in order to keep visitor flow within CDC guidelines. Guests will be able to sign up for a time slot via the ARC website. We will start accepting RSVPs from the general public starting June 1. The traveling exhibition as a whole will consist of 103 works, with 63 of these works being available for sale and 91 of these works being showcased at our New York City venue.
On July 24th, ARC will partner with Fashion Week San Diego, (FWSD), California’s largest traditional fashion week, to present “The Art & Beauty Behind Fashion” at Sotheby’s NY, where FWSD designers have been paired with nine winning works from the ARC Salon Competition to create original couture looks inspired by the paintings. The exhibition will then continue on to the European Museum of Modern Art, (MEAM) in Barcelona, Spain, from October 8 – December 12th, 2021, where it will hang alongside the MEAM’s representational painting and sculpture competition, Figurativas. A joint award ceremony will be held on October 8th at the MEAM.

The Florence Academy of Art announces its new Master of Arts in Studio Art

Building Skill-based Techniques for the K-12 Classroom
The Master of Arts in Studio Art is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). The MA program consists of 30 credits of full-time study, entirely studio-based and completed over 3 summer sessions. Each summer session is 6 weeks in duration. Students may choose to complete all 3 summer sessions in person, or attend up to 2 out of the 3 summer sessions remotely. For those who study remotely, the required in-person session may take place at St. Peter’s University in Jersey City, or at the academy’s campus in Florence, Italy.
The Florence Academy of Art is delighted to partner with Mandy Theis and School of Atelier Arts to offer this degree program. With its emphasis on classical methods, the course provides training in drawing and painting to art teachers seeking to use these skill-based techniques in their classrooms, and to anyone interested in learning how to make realistic artwork. Candidates are not expected to come into the program with high levels of technical skill. Instead, the program is designed to provide the knowledge and develop the skill set of candidates from a variety of backgrounds and levels of experience.

ModPortrait International Portrait Competition

ARC Living Master Evgeniy Monahov and ARC Associate Living Master Arina Gordienko are finalists in the ModPortrait International Portrait Competition. The works will be exhibited at the Palace Bantierra in Zaragoza and at the MEAM Museum in Barcelona from April 15 - June 11, 2021.

2021 Spring Auction to Benefit Salmagundi

Founded in 1871 Salmagundi is the oldest art club in New York, and former home to many of the great names in American art history. The club is also home to the oldest continuous art auction in the city, offering works selected from member submissions sold to benefit the club, all featuring the famous Salmagundi Club label and offered to a live audience.
Among the artists in the auction will be ARC Living Masters Patricia Watwood and Joseph McGurl, as well as ARC Associate Living Masters Doug Zider and Garin Baker.
The auction will be held Live Online April 9, 2021.

ARC Living Master Luis Alvarez Roure is holding a solo exhibition at Stone Sparrow Contemporary Gallery, 45 Greenwich Ave, New York, N.Y. from April 14 - May 22, 2021.
In the words of the gallery director and curator of the exhibition, Marina Eliasi: "This collection of work consists of compositions that explore the deep connection between visual arts and music as well as the influence of one upon the other. The paintings in this emotive collection consist of portraits of world renowned musicians...as well as portraits of actors and other visual artists transformed into visions adopted from classical mythologies. Dan Thompson: Artist and Teacher

Historic Downtown Manassas Banner Art Competition

Congratulations to ARC Associate Living Master Debra Keirce for winning first and third place in the Manassas Banner Art Competition.
The City of Manassas hangs banners on all the light poles in the historic downtown section. This year the banners will be directly from the work of artists. Each one different and unique.
The winning 70+ pieces of art work are printed on individual street banners and on display in Historic Downtown Manassas, starting in the spring through fall of 2021. Along with this, a walking brochure will be produced with a photo of each image, title, artist name and short paragraph description.
The banners will be hung in historic downtown Manassas, Virginia from April 1 - through autumn of 2021.
