I think that your professor should be drummed out of the academy and made to work at some far more useful profession such as asking people if they would like fries with their Big Macs. ;-) So what happened?
Did you drop out? Take the F? Stick to your guns and win?
As for the Whistler tirade, it certainly sounds like he's excited about it all, but I think he would have done better to tone down the rhetoric and talk about the facts. Given when he wrote it, he had a whole lot less to complain about when it comes to idiocy masquerading as art than we do today, but if you found it inspiring, more power to you!
