That's all well and good if the school provides sufficient natural light. But if they don't or can't or won't, the student is left trying to learn how to paint half blind.
And we live in a world filled with natural and artificial light. It seems rather arbitrary and artificial to deny the use of electricity to students who are also being denied the use of sufficient sunlight as well. Meanwhile the space used by those in charge always has plenty of light coming through windows and skylights in their part of the building.
