I was curious as to the opinions of the members of Goodart with reference to painting mediums. Are major works that have been created in acrylic or watercolour valued amongst collectors to the same extent that oil paintings are, and if not, why? I am nearing the end of a two year apprenticeship and trying to decide which way to go - acrylic or oil.

Lorraine,
Here is my view: acrylic is a commercial art medium. Oil is generally acknowledged as the Ultimate in fine art painting mediums, and I agree with that assessment as long as the quality is there.
