Actually, that's what I think of the idea of treating modernists with unearned respect. I'm sure that with some willingness to conspire with them to promote false ideas I could get some of them to be my friends and even to help me out a bit, but why would I want such "flies" around me? Do you really think that's worth the cost in integrity and knowing that I'm helping to perpetrate an intellectual fraud?
