The real outrage to me is not the preaching of post modernism so much as the heartless abuse of the trust of so many young and innocent would-be artist's trust.
I taught a classical figure drawing workshop for 3rd year art students at our local uni, (Griffith Uni, Queensland College of Art) and the students were astounded by how much useful knowledge there was about figure drawing. I then told them of course that I had only given them a small taste of the thing. At least two of these young people decided to go to Julian Ashton Art School, Sydney (the classical school I attended) just on the strength of what I showed them.

[ Editorial note: ARC's webmaster briefly attended the 2nd year Fine Arts programme at Griffith University, the Queensland College of Art, and can testify both to the lack of classical instruction, and the discouragement given to those students who wanted to pursue it. To give an example of the ignorance of Western tradition that prevailed, one staff member - in the sculpture department - hadn't even heard of Baroque sculptor and architect Gian Lorenzo Bernini; surely to be ranked with Ghiberti, Donatello, Michelangelo, Canova, and Rodin as one of the seminal figures in the history of the art. ]
