Letter to ARC

I visited the AGO in Toronto recently. I have been there many times before. I stood in an alcove and was faced with heading toward European art from 1600 to 1800, or, European art from the 20th century. With as much that I have learned from ARC, and I have fallen in love with the art and the thinking, the omission of the 19th century was appalling. While I enjoy Henry Moore, he deals with brute force; his sculpture taking on the same appeal of a foundry, a huge industrial undertaking. The space would be better spent exhibiting the graceful beauty of the Academicians.
