Letter to ARC

From Joshua C. Langstaff

Published before 2005

Dear ARC,

I am writing to thank you once again for selecting me as the recipient of the fifth place 2005 ARC Scholarship. My school has recently received the scholarship just in time for the start of my winter quarter at the Atelier of Juliette Aristides in Seattle. Last year was my first in the atelier and I concentrated mainly on drawing. This year I have started painting in grisaille. Your generous contribution has aided in what has already been a great year. I look forward to continuing to study painting.

In addition to thanking ARC for selecting me as a scholarship recipient I would also like to thank the ARC for all the work that you have done in promoting classical art. I was stuck in a university art school bemoaning the lack of education that I was receiving when I first discovered the ARC. You opened my eyes to artists and ateliers to whom the old skills still mattered. Through you I was able to contact Juliette and become enrolled in her atelier. In short I owe thanks to the ARC not only for my scholarship but for my education in general. [...] I feel that I have learned a great deal in the atelier and I owe you sincere thanks for giving me the opportunity to do so.
Sincerely,
Joshua C. Langstaff
