I've just finished reading your address to the Oil Painters of America.
I found it a masterful and eloquent piece of scholarship. I feel that
the resurgence of traditional realism is a much deeper thing than most
realize. Something that carries with it a profound spirituality and a
return to decency in many ways. I'm glad to be a part of it.
In reading your address I have been pondering the notion of "relevance"
as it relates to a sculptor of traditional realism in our day. There is
much I would like to do with my talent in the vein of the masters of the
late 19th century. such as Jules Dalou. They had much to say about
society in there work and the economic opportunity to say it. It seems
they were well supported in their efforts to make comment on their
world.
