I intend to pursue multiple goals in the future as a working artist. I hope to build a portfolio of independent pieces and attain gallery showings. I am also looking forward to teaching, either with an established Academy or through workshops. I was given the opportunity to start learning this craft at an early age, so teaching realism to young people is especially important to me. Finally, I am interested in working out of Washington, D.C. and specializing in portrait commissions for government officials and prominent leaders. Portraiture has always been a favorite focus of mine and I am driven to capture the beauty, humanity and life force in each person I put to canvas. 

In my independent work, my goal is to paint pieces that translate the experience of perception through the language of classical realism. My focus will be deconstructing the visual world to show how humans construct it. I want my work to rely heavily on optics, capturing the sensation and immediacy of the way that we see. In this way, I believe art is able to communicate beauty by dissolving the subject and extending the viewer beyond sight. There’s nothing humans can do to ever experience anything other than our own consciousness, and that’s exactly why I believe that classical realism matters. I want my paintings to have a universal appeal by capturing the external world through our subjective perception of it.
