When I left Kingston University five years ago I felt incapable of creating the images I wanted to paint, mostly due to lack of skill. Here, like most conceptual art schools, art that dealt with concepts was regarded superior to works that also was dealing with technique. In fact, the craft was not supposed to be discussed at all. It was thought irrelevant. I believe one needs both to create something of real value: to make a piece of art.

Certain tools make certain results possible. In my quest for the techniques of the old masters I came across FAA, where I’m currently acquiring the tools that in time will enable me to paint whatever I desire. The piece you produce tomorrow will be shaped, purely and simply, by the tools you hold in your hands today, and here the toolbox keeps filling up. Being awarded the forth year, truly presents an amazing opportunity to merge my conceptual background with my academic training, while continuing to develop my level of craftsmanship with the support and guidance from my instructors and the community.

During last year's composition class, I came up with concepts for bigger multi-figure compositions, based on my Norwegian heritage that I would like to bring to life. I'll also keep on practicing my portraiture, as I also would like to do commissioned portraits on a high level in the future. My ture goal is to become the best painter possible and be able to paint full-time.
