This painting was done entirely from life and imagination. I did not use a single photo. I choose to work this way because I feel that the difficulties of this process push me as an artist and test my limits immensely. I also feel that because I work in this way, particularly in my multi-figure work, I'm forced to improvise more than I would ever need to if I were using photos. Despite, and perhaps due to imperfections that result from this difficult process- this struggle and improvisation make each painting a more sincere and honest reflection of me as an artist.
