The Milan Academy of Art is a contemporary atelier inspired by classical tradition, located right in the heart of Milan. Founded in 2019, the Academy promotes the teaching of figurative drawing and painting through a highly academic and skill-based approach.

The Milan Academy Experience Students who apply to the Milan Academy of Art seek an education rooted in realism, valuing the accurate and detailed representation of nature and the human figure. To accomplish this, our methodology is built around a personalized, tailor-made path that adapts to the needs and level of each individual—including absolute beginners. We aim to bring out each artist's unique potential by equipping them with solid technical skills, with the ultimate goal of training painters who are deeply conscious both technically and expressively.

The study environment is safe, orderly, and entirely dedicated to artistic practice. When you walk into our studio, you will find spaces fully equipped for easel work, drawing, oil painting, and figure study, creating an ideal setting for focused, classical training.

The Program

Our curriculum centers on a comprehensive Full-Time program spanning three years. The primary focus is on life drawing, supported by the daily use of live models, still lifes, anatomical studies, and cast drawing.

Our course guides students through observation drawing, color theory, the comparative and sight-size method, short and long poses from life, composition, chiaroscuro study, artistic anatomy, and the comprehensive study of the human body. Furthermore, students delve into grisaille painting, Bargue copies, and master copies. These studies are rigorously complemented by practical exercises in space, perspective, volumetric rendering, canvas preparation and transferring drawings.

Faculty Student growth is directly guided by a dedicated teaching staff of working professionals. At the Milan Academy of Art, instruction is led by two permanent instructors, both active artists with exceptional skills in anatomical representation and realistic painting composition.

The director, Simone Nania, was born into a family of artists and has been passionately dedicated to drawing and painting his entire life. A graduate of the Angel Academy of Art, he brings both a lifelong devotion and a wealth of classical knowledge to the studio. He is joined by Daniele Pillittu, a former student of the school and a graduate of the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, who serves as an accomplished painter and teacher. Together, they foster an environment of high artistic standards.

Workshops

In addition to the full-time course, the Milan Academy of Art offers intensive workshops throughout the academic year. The studio regularly hosts high-profile external artists to lead these sessions. These workshops offer students fresh insights and advanced techniques from master painters, beautifully complementing their daily academic training.

Student Progress & Certification

The Academy is deeply invested in the steady development of its artists. It maintains an annual record of students' work to meticulously monitor their progress and ensure the highest quality of teaching. At the end of their studies, students receive a formal certificate of participation, acknowledging their dedication and the mastery of the skills acquired during their time at the atelier.

Admissions & Enrollment

We welcome new students at the beginning of each trimester: September, January, and April.

We believe that a genuine dedication to learning classical art should be the only true prerequisite. For this reason, we do not hold entrance exams or portfolio-based selections, despite operating with a strictly limited number of spots to guarantee highly individualized instruction. Because our teaching method is entirely tailor-made, the curriculum seamlessly adapts to your unique level. Whether you are picking up a pencil for the very first time or you are an experienced artist looking to master advanced techniques, you can begin your journey with us at any time.

La Milan Academy of Art

La Milan Academy of Art è un atelier contemporaneo ispirato alla tradizione classica, situato proprio nel cuore di Milano. Fondata nel 2019, l'Accademia promuove l'insegnamento del disegno e della pittura figurativa attraverso un approccio accademico e rigorosamente basato sulle competenze tecniche.

L'Esperienza alla Milan Academy
Gli studenti che scelgono la Milan Academy of Art cercano una formazione radicata nel realismo, che valorizzi la rappresentazione accurata e dettagliata della natura e della figura umana. Per raggiungere questo obiettivo, la nostra metodologia si sviluppa attorno a un percorso personalizzato e su misura, che si adatta alle esigenze e al livello di ogni individuo, inclusi i principianti assoluti. Il nostro scopo è far emergere il potenziale unico di ciascun artista fornendogli solide competenze tecniche, con l'obiettivo finale di formare pittori che siano profondamente consapevoli sia dal punto di vista tecnico che espressivo.

L'ambiente di studio è sicuro, ordinato e interamente dedicato alla pratica artistica. Entrando nel nostro studio, troverete spazi perfettamente attrezzati per il lavoro al cavalletto, il disegno, la pittura ad olio e lo studio della figura, creando il contesto ideale per una formazione classica e focalizzata.

Il Programma
Il nostro piano di studi è incentrato su un programma Full-Time completo della durata di tre anni. L'attenzione principale è rivolta al disegno dal vero, supportato dall'uso quotidiano di modelli viventi, nature morte, studi anatomici e disegno da calchi in gesso.

Il nostro corso guida gli studenti attraverso il disegno d'osservazione, la teoria del colore, il metodo comparativo e il sight-size, pose brevi e lunghe dal vero, composizione, studio del chiaroscuro, anatomia artistica e lo studio completo del corpo umano. Inoltre, gli studenti approfondiscono la pittura a grisaille, le copie da Bargue e le copie dai grandi maestri. Questi studi sono rigorosamente integrati da esercizi pratici su spazio, prospettiva, resa volumetrica, preparazione della tela e trasferimento del disegno.

Il Corpo Docente
La crescita degli studenti è guidata direttamente da un corpo docente dedicato, composto da professionisti del settore. Alla Milan Academy of Art, l'insegnamento è affidato a due istruttori permanenti, entrambi artisti in attività con eccezionali competenze nella rappresentazione anatomica e nella composizione pittorica realistica.

Il direttore, Simone Nania, è figlio d'arte e si è dedicato con passione al disegno e alla pittura per tutta la vita. Diplomato alla Angel Academy of Art, porta in studio non solo una devozione assoluta per questa disciplina, ma anche un vasto patrimonio di conoscenze classiche. A lui si affianca Daniele Pillittu, ex studente della scuola e diplomato all'Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, oggi affermato pittore e insegnante. Insieme, promuovono un ambiente caratterizzato da standard artistici di altissimo livello.

Workshop
Oltre al corso full-time, la Milan Academy of Art offre workshop intensivi durante tutto l'anno accademico. Lo studio ospita regolarmente artisti esterni di alto profilo per condurre queste sessioni. Questi workshop offrono agli studenti nuove prospettive e tecniche avanzate da parte di maestri pittori, integrandosi in modo eccellente con la loro formazione accademica quotidiana.

Gli studenti
L'Accademia investe profondamente nel costante sviluppo dei propri artisti. Mantiene un archivio annuale dei lavori degli studenti per monitorare meticolosamente i loro progressi e garantire la massima qualità dell'insegnamento. Al termine degli studi, gli studenti ricevono un certificato formale di partecipazione, che attesta la loro dedizione e la padronanza delle competenze acquisite durante il periodo trascorso in atelier.

Iscrizioni e Ammissioni

Accogliamo i nuovi studenti all'inizio di ogni trimestre: a settembre, gennaio e aprile.

Crediamo che il desiderio autentico di apprendere l'arte classica debba essere l'unico vero prerequisito. Per questo motivo non effettuiamo test d'ingresso o selezioni basate sul talento pregresso, sebbene l'Accademia sia rigorosamente a numero chiuso per poter garantire la massima attenzione a ogni singolo allievo. Poiché il nostro metodo didattico è interamente su misura (tailor-made), il percorso si adatta naturalmente a te: che tu stia prendendo in mano una matita per la primissima volta o che tu sia un artista già esperto in cerca di un rigoroso perfezionamento tecnico, potrai iniziare il tuo percorso senza alcun ostacolo.
