The Texas Academy of Figurative Art is one of the only full-time fine art academies in Texas that is focused exclusively on classical realist drawing and painting.
TAFA offers an atelier experience for contemporary artists who desire a foundational and historical approach to art education. The curriculum reflects both the Old Master working methods alongside the Academic Realist approach. The primary emphasis is on rendering the human figure accurately from direct observation. The goal is to educate and develop artists in the figurative tradition, giving artists the skills to express their personal artistic vision.
TAFA has both full-time and part-time options: daytime courses, evening courses, part-time study, and summer teen workshops. TAFA also offers a Certificate of Drawing and Certificate of Painting.
