The Florence Academy of Art - Master of Arts in Studio Art - Building Skill-based Techniques for the K-12 Classroom
Published on April 5, 2022
The Florence Academy of Art is delighted to partner with Mandy Theis and School of Atelier Arts to offer this degree program. With its emphasis on classical methods, the course provides training in drawing and painting to art teachers seeking to use these skill-based techniques in their classrooms, and to anyone interested in learning how to make realistic artwork. Candidates are not expected to come into the program with high levels of technical skill. Instead, the program is designed to provide the knowledge and develop the skill set of candidates from a variety of backgrounds and levels of experience.
The Master of Arts in Studio Art is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). The MA program consists of 30 credits of full-time study, entirely studio-based and completed over 3 summer sessions. Each summer session is 6 weeks in duration. Students may choose to complete all 3 summer sessions in person, or attend up to 2 out of the 3 summer sessions remotely. For those who study remotely, the required in-person session may take place at St. Peter’s University in Jersey City, or at the academy’s campus in Florence, Italy.
