In this intensive five days workshop, participants will first study proportions and perspective of the portrait using charcoal and monochromatic painting (burnt umber is recommended). The block in will be the main focus at this stage in order to capture a strong likeness. This will lay a solid foundation for a fully rendered color study of the head in oil. All those steps will be done on one canvas or panel in order to see clearly every step of the process. Danny Ferland will be doing a demonstration on each day and analyse each participants paintings through constructive critiques. An introduction to the anatomy of the head will help understand the decision making process. Color mixing and paint handling will also be discussed. Participants will be able to use a full color palette or a limited one, depending on level and preference.
15 places are available for each workshops.
Teaching is conducted in English and french.
Below 50% of participants the course is canceled.
